This week is the start of the Fife Midweek League 2026, kicking off with a 5 Mile on Wednesday evening. In early February, the 2025 awards were presented at Balbirnie Park Golf Club in Fife.

This league is possibly the best TT league in the country. I have said before, moving from permanently to Scotland has made me realise how lucky we are to have this. This league is very special and there is so much to win and compete for each week. A very well run competition, with weekly battles and updates on league positions. There is constant drama to follow and it's a big part of our club.
The 2025 season saw lots of success from our riders in Thistle and associated members.
The leagues operate on a qualifying basis based on the season before on their best 10 mile TT.
A sub 23 minutes
B Sub 24 minutes
C Sub 25 minutes
D Over 25 minutes
There are also many cups for individual events as well as you will see from the haul of trophies you will see with Angus with. The precise names ofnall of these and associated races, I do not have note of.
Angus had a tremendous season, winning many races, and categories in FCA events and opens. He won the highest league, A League for the FCA Midweek league, taking home two large boxes of silverware. I counted from the photographs, his league and races wins, but it could easily be more than 8 trophies that he won on the evening. So much so, that I made a collage of photographs to help all show all of the times he had to get up to receive his various trophies! Chapeau, Angus!
The A league saw lots of success from other riders such as Nico Anelli
Slawomir Lezala
Alan Davidson, who set a new category record at Caird Park 3.1 mile TT.
Stuart MacCaullum also impressed early in the season with his category win in the Mackay 25 mile TT April 2025.
Ali Merry also had an excellent second place finish for a 10 mile TT at Cleish after his tour of Europe.
I was alone in B league. I lost out on second on the final day of racing so had to settle for third, but an improvement on 2024's 5th place. Less beer for me this year.
Gary Carnegie, newly promoted to C league after his extraordinary 2024 D league win and 10 mile pbs, finished 4th in his first season. Chapeau!
Fife Cycling Association also covers road hill climbs and a mountain bike race, which our own chair Peter Flick won. Much to his surprise!
I thought it really important to share this, on behalf of all the winners in our club who maybe we're too humble to tell us. We have alot of racing success and experience with in the club and it needs to be celebrated.
If you want to draw from this experience and be part of this wonderful event yourself, please get in touch, even if you want to try out one event as a taster.
There is a lot more history and sentimentality the individual cups and races involved, this is just the tip of the iceberg, my historybis not that strong yet. That said, If I have not described something correctly, please add your experiences and additions/corrections below.
The very best to all competitors for this year's Thistle riders in 2026
