Gifford Road Race

It was the season opener on the road for many at the (March) weekend with the arrival of the Gifford Road race hosted by Edinburgh RC.

Rebecca Trimble was competing in the ladies race which attracted a stacked field of 41 starters from the likes of pro-conti level Alba, Solas, CAMS and of course the Jaggies!

Rebecca described the race as very tough and chaotic in what was a very windy day with gusts up to 50mph. A very short course at only 52km made it very important to get in the early break and this was part of Rebecca’s strategy.

The race quickly broke apart with a lot of hard work being doing by Alba to shed riders. The remainder of the race was largely spent working extremely hard in a group of 3, all that APR practice on the Carse no doubt coming good!

A very respectable 18th and the 2nd 4th cat over the line. A hard day in the saddle day but lots of learnings for Rebecca to take into her next race.

Notable other local rider Eve Fairbairn representing Liv finished 17th.

Second claim members of the Jaggies were also present, Ben Newton finishing 7th in the 3/4 event and Nico Anelli mixing it with the E1/2/3 boys with an 18th place.
